Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Lexn.ca and every service offered through it, including the Exam Simulator, the NCA Library and Study Circles (together, the "Service").

The Service is operated by Iscarus Industries, a business registered in Ontario, Canada ("Lexn", "we", "us").

By creating an account or buying anything on Lexn.ca, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Refund Policy and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Not affiliated with the NCA

Lexn is an independent exam-preparation service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA), the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, or any law society or law school. NCA is a trademark of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada and is used here only to describe the exams our Service helps you prepare for.

Our practice exams are original works written by Lexn. They are not real NCA exam questions and do not reproduce NCA materials. Always confirm exam rules, syllabi, dates and fees directly with the NCA at nca.legal.

2. Educational use only. No guarantee of results

The Service is study material. It is not legal advice, does not create a lawyer–client relationship, and must not be relied on for any real legal matter.

We work hard to keep our content accurate and current, but the law changes and errors can happen. We do not promise that the Service will help you pass any exam, and your NCA results depend on many things outside our control.

3. AI-generated feedback

The Exam Simulator gives feedback on your answers using artificial intelligence. AI feedback:

is generated automatically and can be incomplete or wrong;
is a study aid, not a grade, and does not predict your NCA result;
should be read alongside the model answers, rubrics and your own judgment.

To produce feedback, your answers are sent to a third-party AI provider as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
Each account is for one person. You may not share your login, let others use your account, or resell access.
You must give accurate information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
You may hold only one account. Creating extra accounts to obtain additional free simulations, referral rewards or other benefits is not allowed.

5. Plans and pricing

We offer the following plans:

All prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable taxes (GST/HST/PST/QST), which are calculated and shown at checkout before you pay.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
We show the full price, taxes and plan terms before you confirm any purchase, and we email you a receipt and a copy of the key purchase terms after every purchase.
Promotional or founding pricing applies only as described at the time of purchase.

6. Lexn Exam subscription: renewal and cancellation

Lexn Exam renews automatically every month at the price shown at purchase until you cancel. We tell you this clearly at checkout.
You can cancel at any time from your account settings, in a few clicks, without contacting us. Cancellation stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the month you have already paid for.
We do not give partial-month refunds, except as set out in our Refund Policy.
Price changes. If we change the Lexn Exam price, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel before it takes effect. If you subscribed at a founding price, you keep that price for as long as your subscription stays continuously active.
Bonus month with Lexn Guide. The free month of Lexn Exam included with a Lexn Guide purchase does not renew automatically and is never charged. When it ends, you can choose to subscribe.

7. Lifetime licences (Lexn Guide and Lexn All-Access)

"Lifetime" means for as long as Lexn operates the relevant part of the Service. Study guides are delivered as downloadable PDF files, which you may keep permanently even if the Service later changes or closes.
Lexn All-Access: Lifetime Lexn Exam, including simulations for every subject we add, plus lifetime access to every study guide available at the time of purchase. Guides for subjects added later are sold separately.
Lifetime Exam Simulator access under Lexn All-Access is subject to Section 4 (one person per account) and Section 11 (acceptable use).

8. Your licence to our content

All content on the Service is owned by Lexn or our licensors and protected by copyright. This includes study guides, practice questions, model answers, rubrics, feedback, and the design and software.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the content you have access to for your own exam preparation. You may not:

share, sell, upload, post or distribute any guide, question or model answer, including in Study Circles, messaging groups, file-sharing sites or study groups;
remove or obscure the watermark placed on your PDFs;
scrape, bulk-download or copy the Service, or feed our content into AI tools or datasets to train, fine-tune or build other products;
use the content to run a competing course, tutoring business or prep service.

Each PDF is watermarked with the email address on your account so that leaked copies can be traced.

9. Your content

Exam answers. You own the answers you write in the Exam Simulator. You give us a licence to store and process them to run the Service, generate your feedback, and improve our questions, rubrics and feedback quality. We do not publish your exam answers.

Study Circles posts. You own what you post. By posting, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute your posts on and in connection with the Service, including in search results. Study Circles posts are public: anyone on the internet can read them, and search engines such as Google may index them. Do not post anything you want to keep private.

You are responsible for what you post. It must follow our Community Guidelines, and you must have the right to post it.

10. Referral program

If three people you refer each sign up through your referral link and make their first verified positive-amount payment, you earn 30 days of Lexn Exam access, added to any access you already have.
A full refund of a referred person's first payment reverses that conversion. A partial refund does not. A chargeback may affect whether a payment counts. Rewards already issued are never clawed back.
Lexn All-Access members can refer people. Because they already have lifetime Lexn Exam access, a referral reward does not add duplicate access time.
Self-referrals, referrals between accounts controlled by the same person, and fake or incentivised sign-ups do not count. We may withhold rewards not yet issued for these referrals.
Rewards have no cash value and cannot be transferred. We may change or end the program with notice, but we will honour rewards already earned.

11. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

break any law, or anyone's rights, while using the Service;
attempt to access other users' accounts or data, or interfere with the Service's security or operation;
use bots, scrapers or automated tools on the Service;
post or share actual NCA exam questions or other confidential exam content;
use the Service to harass, deceive or spam anyone;
misuse Study Circles in breach of our Community Guidelines.

12. Exam Simulator conditions

The Exam Simulator is designed to resemble timed exam conditions, but it is not the real NCA exam environment. Timing, auto-save and the Pace Tracker are study tools.

If a technical problem on our side interrupts a simulation, contact support@lexn.ca and we will restore the attempt where we reasonably can. We are not responsible for interruptions caused by your device, browser or internet connection.

13. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms. Examples include sharing paid content, abusing free-tier or referral benefits, or breaching the Community Guidelines. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and tell you why.
If we close your account for a serious breach, you are not entitled to a refund of amounts already paid, except where the law requires it.
If we permanently shut down a paid part of the Service, we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to download any guides you have purchased.

14. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We improve the Service continuously and may add, change or remove features.

We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept the change, you may cancel before it takes effect. The "Last updated" date above always shows the current version.

15. Warranties and liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties that are not expressly stated in these Terms.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as exam fees, lost opportunities or lost income.

Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived by contract, including the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002 and equivalent laws in your province or territory.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you are a consumer living in another province or territory, you also keep the protection of its mandatory consumer laws.

Please contact us first at support@lexn.ca; most issues can be resolved quickly. Any dispute that cannot be resolved may be brought before the courts of Ontario, or the courts of your province or territory where consumer law gives you that right.

17. General

These Terms, together with the policies linked above, are the entire agreement between you and Lexn about the Service.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
You may not transfer your account or these Terms. We may transfer them to a successor business, including a corporation we incorporate to operate Lexn, and we will notify you if we do.
